Nose the the Grind
The project is a sculptural installation designed as a thought-provoking centerpiece for an art
exhibition, exploring nostalgia and escapism through a striking juxtaposition of the fantastical
and the mundane. The work reimagines an ordinary office space, transforming it into a surreal
scene dominated by a massive dragon, given the name Dennis as a way of demystifying him
with a name that doesn’t fit a creature’s enduring symbol of adventure and imagination.

Final Sculpture Display
Slumped over a desk, Dennis’ head shatters through a computer screen, embodying a deep
sense of disillusionment and entrapment in a monotonous world. Constructed from foam and
repurposed objects, the project blends traditional sculpture with found materials, reinforcing
its themes of transformation and reinterpretation. The target audience is art enthusiasts in
their late teens to early twenties, who can relate to the tension between childhood dreams
and adult responsibilities as they navigate their own transitions into the professional world.

Close up shots of sculpture texture
The dragon, reminiscent of creatures from cartoons and toy lines, becomes an abstract
representation of youthful aspirations colliding with reality. This exhibition piece challenges
viewers to reflect on nostalgia’s role as both a comfort and a limitation. The sculpture asks:
Why do we conform to expectations when our passions once promised boundless possibility?
By fusing fantasy with everyday imagery, the sculpture invites audiences to reconsider the
balance between practicality and creativity in their own lives, making it a compelling focal
point for artistic discourse on identity, ambition, and the enduring power of imagination.
